After a magical, yet exhausting Christmas season, it was time for some R&R (rest and retail therapy) in Charleston.  This quaint little city is one of my favorites with it’s cobblestone streets, The Battery and it’s infamous pralines.  Regardless of the weather, exploring the French Quarter, followed by tea at the timeless Charleston Place Hotel is a perfect afternoon.  A quick jaunt down King street for a shop in Copper Penny was just what I needed to burn off my cupcake break 🙂

Berry

Christmas Eve was fantastic!  It was a constant flurry of friends, family and food, which is always wonderful.  This year, I was inspired by one of my favorite dishes….cranberry apple crumble.  While this dish sounds basic, and an obvious holiday treat, it is beyond amazing, in color and taste.  Plump cranberry jewels nestled in a sweet mixture of spices and apples, topped with caramelized cinnamon oats. Amazing!

After having way to many servings, I decided to indulge my cranberry obsession elsewhere.  My Winter color love this year has been cranberry or anything in the cranberry family.  I love the warmth it brings and the thoughts of spiced cider and the infamous crumble it conjures up.  It definitely put some warmth in the chilly air today!

Close knit

I was so excited to unfold the soft, heavy knitting of my Yigal wrap, which I had been pining for all year while overseas. (My sister was kindly storing it).  I have to admit, when I first received it, I was worried the volumes of material would overwhelm someone so short, but not the case.

I love over-sized, cozy cardigans and I knew the minute I put this one on, it would be my favorite of the bunch.  It’s such a luxurious knit and the cream and black are always a classic combo.

Pinking of you

After a 24 hour flight time from Sydney to North Carolina, I was ready for some holiday relaxation with friends and family (and really didn’t want to see the inside of a plane for awhile!)  Leaving 100 degree weather, to land in what feels like the Arctic, is always so strange to me and usually takes some getting use to.  However, I couldn’t resist indulging in my favorite color on one of the more mild days.  Pink seems to make everything better and paired with leather leggings is still perfect in the Winter.  I can already feel my jet lag letting go just at the sight of this silky peony lovely!

Street dazzle

The holiday season always brings on a sea of sparkle, glitter and shine; Whether it’s on Christmas tree baubles, confections dusted with eatable gold or the countless variations of how sequins translate into fashion.  Like most girls, I have always been attracted to things that sparkle, and this mini seemed to encapsulate every piece of glimmer I so love.  Pairing something that is otherwise seen as more formal with a basic tee and denim jacket was perfection for my style.  I love that I feel like myself, but have incorporated a much loved party staple with some of my basic favorites.
