Sunshine at last!….and the perfect excuse to slowly incorporate spring trends into my wardrobe. I love that nautical is already popping up everywhere, considering I love stripes and anything inspired by the coast.
To keep the trend from looking to literal, I decided to pair a darker blazer and similar hued rolled jeans to keep a neutral look. The finishing touch, a pop of hot pink….naturally!

After settling back into work, a new time zone and warmer weather, I was ready for a relaxing weekend back in Sydney. Unfortunately, the bright and sunny Australia Day was followed by a monsoon of rain and wind (perfect weather for Hunter’s).
Feeling a bit blah, due to my dismal surroundings, I decided to tap into my inner sunshine and rebel against my grey surroundings with hot pink…..of course! Sunday brunch at Bill’s (accompanied by a very large umbrella) was the perfect recipe for a brighter outlook.

I have always loved the idea of a tuxedo inspired piece as an alternative for a more formal event. It instantly gives a clean, polished feel to any outfit, but done wrong can be disastrous.
For me, I like to pick either a blazer or a pant to create this look and give it my own style. The addition of a statement necklace over a sheer lace top made it a bit more interesting than just pairing a matching blazer. Time to hit the town!

Leopard is one of those classic prints that can literally go with everything. I have an obscene amount of it and always find these pieces are my closet staples. Many have been investments but totally worth it!
I knew the hot pink DVF translation of leopard print was a must for me as it combines two classic concepts: The wrap dress and animal print. I love how the traditional leopard clutch adds a different dimension to the more modern concept of DVF.

Sometimes I feel like I need a vacation from my vacation! This was definitely the case this year. After spending time in NC with family, heading North to DC and NYC (then a quick jaunt to Charleston squeezed in), we ended our month in San Fran for some relaxation.
I decided to take full advantage of the warm snap the city was experiencing and immediately pulled out my brightest jeans and cropped tee. (It think this was a repressed reaction to all the bitter cold I had endured on the East coast) I know navy and white stripes screams nautical; however, I always love the addition of leopard to this classic combo. The sequin detailing on the tee also adds the perfect amount of glam and an unexpected twist.
Leopard & sequins….perfect for a cable car ride~of course!

I am so excited to be in San Fran this week, before heading back to Sydney. This city is one of my favorites, and with so many amazing views and culinary musts, I can’t wait to add a bit of fashion to each photo. Let the fun begin!
New posts to follow soon!
I am fortunate that my husband loves photography and is also my personal photographer for Wishbone. However, I may stick to my intuition on locations after this suggestion by my other half.
He loves old cars and camping, so through the woods we went to find the old rusted car front that he thought was a cool background. Needless to say, this was not my comfort zone. Further adding to our little “adventure” I saw a spider (I am petrified of them to the point of needing therapy) which explains the rather unusual appearance of the cinder block I escaped to in the photos.
I’m always a fan of exploring outside the box, but I think I’ll stick a bit more to my side of the box next time!
