Mixing it up

Fashion is all about self expression, and love nothing more than mixing not so obvious pieces together to create something unique and new.  I’ve had this striped dress in my closet for years, and adore the color and style.  By adding a cozy sweater and bright accessories, my favorite dress was transformed into something totally different. Sometimes shopping your own closet is all the inspiration needed.

The Brogue

the brouge cross

Over the weekend, my husband and I relaxed over a bowl of noodle soup at Ippudo followed by a bit of shopping for him.  Seeing all the tailored blazers and detail focused footwear, I was inspired to opt for my boyfriend jeans over my usual skinnys, topped off by what I believe to be the ultimate menswear inspired flat…the brogue.  Flats are essential for city dwellers as walking is usually the best, and sometimes fastest method of transport.  At just over 5 feet, a flat shoe must be super stylish for me to indulge!

Accessories have always been a weakness of mine.  I love that with the addition of something as simple as the right scarf or a bracelet, a basic outfit can be transformed and really become a statement of your personality.   One of my favorite ways to wear jewelery is layering.  You can literally mix high end with bargain pieces and the result can be fantastic.  Happy layering!

Pastels

One of my favorite and key pieces is my blush blazer.  It was such a perfect find (on sale)! and works year round.  I have to admit, with Spring/Summer ushering in beautiful, breezy days, pastels are my natural direction.  Blush serves perfectly as a neutral but with warmth, which makes it one of my favorites.
