Summertime always inspires dramatic, attention grabbing colors, and to it’s opposition, monochromatic black dominates my Winter selections.

I have always loved head to toe black for it’s ability to ooze instant chic, but adding bright statement accessories and different textures always make things interesting.  Leather leggings and a royal blue tote will be on high rotation this season!

The Dark Side

Although cooler months are ahead, I can’t seem to totally commit to wrapping myself in layers yet.  I love a good cabernet (wine and color) 🙂 – so this pencil was right up my ally.  I decided pairing a cropped top and peep toe bootie made my migration to the dark-side a little easier.

One of my best investment piece decisions was made several years ago in Fendi.  I am a sucker for leopard, and the Fendi interpretation was a belt I knew I would have for years.  I consider most animal prints neutrals and this piece was no exception.  Blazers, coats and over-sized dresses all cinch together perfectly.  It was definitely a splurge as far as belts go, but continues to be one of my most loved accessories.

Orange Fizz

There is definitely a chill in the air in NYC.  It seemed to have happened overnight, transitioning from a sticky heat to a much welcomed cool breeze.  With this shift, out come the “in-between” sweaters.  I love these because with their weight, you can still mix them with warmer weather pieces.  I adored the rebellious, overly happy color of this sweater and knew it would stand out in a sea of darker tones.  Of course I had to rein it in a little by pairing it with a bit of black leather 🙂

Jump Jump

I’ve literally been obsessed with finding the perfect jumpsuit for the past few months.  Being a short stack often makes it hard to find a fabulous fit.  Strapless, mesh, wide-leg and halters were one by one ticked off my list as I found that something was missing.  I fell in love with this one from Zara.  I love the simplicity of the fit and for once the length was perfect!  This will definitely be one of my go to pieces for season’s to come.

With fashion week coming to an end, I found myself inspired, but overwhelmed by the massive conglomeration of trends that all came together in a fantastic display everywhere I’ve looked in the city.  It was unbelievable to finally be in the midst of everything, and while I saw some outfits that were true fashion genius the way colors and prints came together, I also noted the undeniable elegance of the women that chose classic pieces, tailored to perfection with a red lip.  Amidst all the midi skirts, statement shoes and every other trend imaginable, the beauty found in simplicity was simply striking.

NewYorkFashionWeek ~ DVF

fw sign bw

I have to admit, when we got the news that NYC would be our future home, visions of fashion week immediately filled my head.  I had never been in the States during one of fashion’s most coveted events, so you can imagine how ecstatic I was when my husband scored us seats to one of my favorite designers…DVF!

Once inside, I took the chance to soak it all in.  I straight away spotted Leandra of Man repeller rocking the sickest choker ever-of course, and as I turned around, I bumped smack dab into Elle’s Joe Zee, who chatted with me for a brief moment before running off to another show.  As we grabbed our seats, I spotted Paris and Nicky Hilton flanked by photographers as they took their place in the front row. Everything seemed surreal.

The lights dimmed as the first model hit the catwalk.  Every piece from the Oasis collection was stunning.  The energy in the room was electric!  As the final model began her walk, I realized the much talked about “guest” was Naomi Campbell.  Seeing her infamous strut in person was genius.  Finally, Diane emerged, dancing down the runway.  The show was perfection!fw full
