The Basics

white top crop B

Last weekend, the hubs and I headed for our caffeine fix courtesy of Blue Bottle Coffee in Meatpacking. The slow drip was delish accompanied by my much anticipated waffle.  It was the perfect lazy morning considering this weekend we’ll be switching up our morning ritual from coffee to sushi in ….. Japan!  My excitement is of course off the charts as this trip has been in the works for awhile.  The food, the fashion, the people…I can’t wait to explore everything!

Cherry Blossom season hopefully will be in full bloom, giving Wishbone the most amazing backdrop for my Japanese adventure.  Although I love my basic, never fail pieces, I am vibrating with the thought of warmer weather, flowers blooming and color, color, color!

Follow me on Instagram and keep an eye out for new posts chronicling my trip!

Green & Pink

PG crop

Ok, so I’ve begrudgingly accepted the fact that we are still getting blasts of cold during what should be the beginnings of Spring, but my color palette has rebelled and is already 10 steps ahead, sipping mint juleps and smelling the budding flowers.

Pink and green go hand in hand for me in any form.  This could be explained by the fact that I grew up in the South where this color combo is everywhere from the monogrammed…..well everything, to the ever popular Lily Pulitzer-esque prints featuring  palm trees to elephants.  I never quite joined this band wagon, but always found the colors synonymous with the beginnings of Springtime.  My version comes with a bit more attitude, mixing my pink and green with tattered denim and darker accessories.

Waffle

waffle down

I’ll admit, it wasn’t the best day to wear a top with a bunch of holes in it considering the wind was unforgiving; however, I couldn’t resist indulging my waffle craving. (I missed out on Nat’l Waffle Day – a travesty I intend to make up for this Saturday over the ginormous waffle at Blue Bottle Coffee) 🙂

I love a good white tee and this one will be on high rotation this Spring/Summer.  I love how the lazer cut detailing gives a basic tank an edgy twist. Perfection for the hot days that hopefully lay ahead.

I also have to mention my new obsession….Rag & Bone’s zip capri jean.  These little gems are new season and as per usual spot on in every way.  The wash, the shreds, the zips…you know it doesn’t take much to push me over the purchasing edge with denim and these were definitely no exception.

Village Blues

village full cross

One of my favorite weekend brunch spots is West Village.  The streets are so lovely and quaint and it’s the closest to a Sydney style breakfast we’ve found thus far.  Perfectly poached eggs and lattes at Cafe Minerva were followed by couples retail therapy at Rag & Bone. (Love it when the hubby is on-board for this!).

I also quickly found that my denim on denim mindset was shared by others.  Within the space of 10 minutes, I literally spotted 3 different women sporting this Marc by Marc Jacobs chambray dress – this might have had something to do with the fact that I was on the same block as the store. I’m always up for any version of a denim remix, especially when I found out Frank & Eileen did chambray button downs. For an off duty casual shirt, these guys are the best hands down.
