I’m always a fan of mixing prints, especially ones full of vibrant colors, but over the weekend, I decided to put a different spin on my mix by going black and white. The combo tends to always work and I love the added complexity that mixed prints brings to a classic color combo.

Distressed denim is currently having a moment-not that it ever leaves the spotlight. Summer always has iterations of tattered shorts and boyfriend’s that are perfectly broken in and frayed. Being denim, of course you know I have a whole stack dedicated to all that is ripped. To the average onlooker, it probably seems I have 15 pairs of the same thing but for me, each one is unique and has a story to accompany some of their battle wounds.
I try not to play favorites with my distressed lovelies, however; when it comes to broken in denim, one of my go-to’s is always AG. They are unbelievably soft and the distressing is perfection. Like most brands, AG has many different washes and styles. I love their skinny ankle as I’m petite. The Slit is one of their most popular styles, but one I had not ever purchased. I was after something that fell between a slim boyfriend and a skinny and found that in AG’s newest Slit member.

I have certain pieces in my wardrobe that I know will always work and are usually my go to when I want something easy. I have to admit though, I can find myself in a fashion rut sometime,s always gravitating towards my favorite denim and basic top. My never fail cure: Accessorise!
While I’m certainly not starved for color when it comes to my accessories, I like to make sure there is always a balance among texture, color and size. Pops of color paired with fierce details on a classic black shoe are the cure all to any basic outfit.

Maxi’s are a warm weather staple, and mine are usually brightly and happy, conjuring up images of island getaways. However, they can also have a darker side that lends itself nicely to Summer’s version of the LBD. I came across this conundrum over the weekend when debating party attire for a more formal evening event. I opted for a black maxi with plenty of details and an equally interesting shoe. My LBD collection now has a new, slightly taller member 🙂
