Last weekend, my husband and I decided to venture outside of Manhattan and head north. A weekend drive is something we rarely did in Sydney so we decided to take advantage of our surroundings here. The leaves were just starting to turn and it was a good chilly that makes a cozy sweater feel that much better. Tarrytown, Sleepy Hollow and Greenwich, CT all made for a quaint little day.
Latte art at Coffee Labs was impressive (you know we love our coffee art) and the coffee was even tastier. Then it was over to Blue Hill Farm. The homemade sour cherry scone was delectable, especially against the changing leaf backdrop, as we sipped tea. The farm itself is massive, housing a cafe, farm to table restaurant (meant to be phenomenal) and of course, the animals. I actually saw “free range” chickens 🙂
It was then on to Greenwich. The afternoon was spent eating, drinking and of course a spot of shopping. I was lucky enough to snag a reservation at one of the best restaurants in town, Thomas Henkelmann, to cap off our day. An old fashioned and a glass of champs flowed into an amazing dinner, complete with a visit from the chef himself.
Halloween weekend we’re off again, this time to Newport, RI. After our first introduction to what a Northern weekend getaway has to offer, I can’t wait for our next adventure.
