Sweater weather

sweater w full 2

I have always been obsessed with over-sized sweaters and delish knits.  There is nothing better that snuggling into soft layers to escape a cold, windy day.  I’ve been fortunate to come across some amazing pieces for this years cold snap and am actually excited at the thought of a chill in the air. I definitely had to up my knit game when we moved to NYC.  What I thought were substantial sweaters were no match for a Northern Winter.  This years lineup is sure to keep me nice and toasty 🙂

Gift Guide

It’s that time of year again (8 weeks to go) and for all the early birds, gift ideas probably started swirling in your heads in August.  I have always loved thinking about and giving gifts.  The beautiful wrapping and the adoration of a well thought out token are always my favorite part of the process.  I’ve decided to compile a collection of ideas to suit both sexes that are either my go to trinkets or items on my gift giving list this year. Happy gifting!

Golden lip mug, Tory Burch book, Wishbone ring stand, Theodora & Callum scarf (ON SALE!), Business card holder, Golden flatware, Jo Malone candle, Mini notebook, Pearl stud statement earrings, fringe gloves.

Plum

When the leaves begin to turn and Fall is truly in full swing, my quintessential color is plum.  It’s richness is a nice break from basic black and Winter greys.  I love J Brand’s version and can’t wait to pair them with a cozy over-sized knit or trench.

Get outta town

Last weekend, my husband and I decided to venture outside of Manhattan and head north.  A weekend drive is something we rarely did in Sydney so we decided to take advantage of our surroundings here.  The leaves were just starting to turn and it was a good chilly that makes a cozy sweater feel that much better.  Tarrytown, Sleepy Hollow and Greenwich, CT all made for a quaint little day.

Latte art at Coffee Labs was impressive (you know we love our coffee art) and the coffee was even tastier.  Then it was over to Blue Hill Farm.  The homemade sour cherry scone was delectable, especially against the changing leaf backdrop, as we sipped tea.  The farm itself is massive, housing a cafe, farm to table restaurant (meant to be phenomenal) and of course, the animals. I actually saw “free range” chickens 🙂

It was then on to Greenwich.  The afternoon was spent eating, drinking and of course a spot of shopping.  I was lucky enough to snag a reservation at one of the best restaurants in town, Thomas Henkelmann, to cap off our day.  An old fashioned and a glass of champs flowed into an amazing dinner, complete with a visit from the chef himself.

Halloween weekend we’re off again, this time to Newport, RI. After our first introduction to what a Northern weekend getaway has to offer, I can’t wait for our next adventure.

Neutral bits & bobs

I find a sneaky pre-Winter sale can sometimes be overwhelming.  It seems like it take hours to scroll through all the options and by the time my shortlist is complete, it’s quite frankly become long.  I find that using a pop up sale to snatch basics that will have staying power and get you though the season ahead, are always a good way to go. Here are my top picks for neutral gems, perfect for any closet- after perusing Shopbop’s friend & family selection (25% off sitewide with code: FAMILY25)

Watch: Nixon, Gloves: Carolina Amato, Denim: Frame, Sweater: Mason by Michelle Mason, Sunnies: 3.1 Phillip Lim, Hat: Hat Attack, Booties: Belle by Sigerson Morrison, Clutch: Clare Vivier.
