The long weekend was super relaxing, but very jammed packed. We headed South to my hometown in North Carolina for some good food, friends and family. My husband and I finally tried the much talked about sushi/burger hybrid Cowfish. To say the menu was overwhelming (in a good way) is an understatement. Sushi rolls made with classic burger ingredients and the peanut butter and jelly milkshake were just some of the unique, but moorish standouts.
With the sun shining for most of the weekend combined with our many culinary indulgences, a leisurely, but long afternoon walk through my Dad’s neighborhood was the perfect precursor to our dinner at one of my favorite Southern institutions….Angus Barn.

I’m loving that jumpsuits are all the rage for the Fall, considering this trend carries over from the Summer rompers that I was obsessed with. A one piece is such a versatile addition, especially in a neutral color. I spotted this one from DVF a couple of years ago and loved that the shift to a longer sleeve, makes this the perfect transition piece from Summer to Fall. The fact that it was a deep navy was a bonus in my sea of basic black.

Green is one of those colors that in my closet, never gets enough credit. For some reason it has never been my first or even second. I think it stems from a childhood fear of Oscar the grouch 🙂 Fortunately I have conquered my emerald demons and fell in love with my first head to toe green piece.

When I was in middle school, monochromatic outfits were all the rage. Perfectly matched leggings, socks, shoes and an over-sized tee (with a side knot tied no less) pretty much summed up my middle school fashion sense. Today, I still love the idea of wearing a neutral color head to toe-minus the matching scrunchie and tube socks 🙂. My go to color is usually black, but it’s lighter sibling is my current obsession…gray.
To further add to my personal denim wall (yes I need therapy), I began my search for the perfect gray jean. I can report back that 50 shades of grey is not just a best seller, it’s also the current state of the denim world. I ended up falling in love with J Brand’s version and already knew loved the fit. These were a close second.

The warmth gold creates has always made this metallic hue one of my favorites. It instantly adds a richness to any accessory and quite literally will goes with everything. As Fall approaches, bringing with it cooler tones and yummy Autumn inspired knits, I find myself adding a source of sunshine with pops of gold.
I have to admit, my gilded obsession started when I first spotted the gold version of Mr. Weitzman’s gladiators 🙂 How could I resist!

Vibrant colors always make me happy and actually energize me at times. This week was packed full but productive. A fun color burst to start off the weekend is the perfect clothing cocktail. Happy Friday y’all!

Although it is on my top 3 list of places I’d love to visit, I have not yet been to Africa. I have always been intrigued by the wildlife and the fact that you have the option to observe the residents in their natural habitat during a safari, would be amazing! After seeing David Attenborough’s special on the continent, I was ready to pack my bags, but until our tickets are booked, I will have to accept the closest I will get to an elephant will be on my shorts this Summer 🙂
