Although I usually end up in a food coma, Thanksgiving is one of my favorite times of year. Foods that are usually foreign to my daily routine are a decadent and welcomed treat, leaves are still turning (in NC) and the shopping season has officially kicked off-Christmas lights and all. I can run with the best of the Black Friday purists-waking up at 6am, grabbing a cortado and heading to Saks or Nordstrom, but online shopping is also a very appealing and ever growing fabulous option for the crowd phobic shopper to bypass the sale induced frenzies that await outside and inside most stores the day after Thanksgiving. Below are some of my picks for partaking from the comfort of bed, Friday and throughout the weekend.

One staple piece that lends itself to any season is a leather pencil skirt. The silhouette alone is a classic and I love the luxe feel leather can add to any piece of clothing. I snapped this beauty up last year on sale no less, when I saw the zipper detailing. It’s super versatile letting me position the zip in the front, back or as a thigh high slit.
I decided to pair down the leather with a basic tee, and add girlie accessories as a contrast to the edgier elements.
Leather skirt: Nicholas (similar here & here-love this faux version), Tee: Monrow (also love this one), Belt: Forever 21 (similar here & here), Shoes: BCBG (similar here & here), Bag: Dior, Sunnies: Ray-Ban (similar here), Bracelet: Gemma Redux.
At the beginning of each season, especially major temperature shifts, I always take stock of what I have and what I gravitate towards for the coming months. Major trends flood the magazines and while some I absolutely love, I also make sure to search for the pieces that have staying power as well. These are good basics that have just a suttle nod to the trends vs. the extreme translations.
With cooler temperatures approaching, I pulled together my top pics that create the perfect refresh for A/W.
Clockwise from top right ~ Sunnies: Westward Leaning, Clutch: Sophie Hulme, Bracelet: Condor, Shoes: BCBG, Nails: Essie in Carry On, Earrings: Sweetie Pie, Necklace: J. Crew, Jeans: J Brand, Sweater: Vince (here & here).
Fashion for me, is one of the best ways to express a mood, feeling or just who you are. How I’m feeling largely dictates what I wear and today I tapped into my comfort zone. I love that chic can be anything from a decadent dress with the perfect accessories to a casual look with elements of your own signature style. I love mixing different worlds-a tuxedo blazer with a simple tee, designer and bargan. Casual chic is my comfort zone, but always proves to be unique as it’s an expression of who I truly am.
Tee: Zoe Karssen (also in black), Blazer: BCBG (similar here & here), Jeans: 7FAM (similar here & here), Shoes: Mulberry, Necklace: Dannijo (similar here), Sunnies: Westward//Leaning.
Christmas Eve was fantastic! It was a constant flurry of friends, family and food, which is always wonderful. This year, I was inspired by one of my favorite dishes….cranberry apple crumble. While this dish sounds basic, and an obvious holiday treat, it is beyond amazing, in color and taste. Plump cranberry jewels nestled in a sweet mixture of spices and apples, topped with caramelized cinnamon oats. Amazing!
After having way to many servings, I decided to indulge my cranberry obsession elsewhere. My Winter color love this year has been cranberry or anything in the cranberry family. I love the warmth it brings and the thoughts of spiced cider and the infamous crumble it conjures up. It definitely put some warmth in the chilly air today!
Sweater dress: BCBG-old (similar here, here & here), Scarf: Burberry, Tights: Wolford, Boots: Stuart Weitzman (black version here), Hat: Eugenia Kim, Sunnies: Westward Leaning, Cluch: Clare Vivier, Ring: Sylvia Benson
