Pouch Power

Throughout my travels, moves and daily life, I’ve come to find my trusty tote just doesn’t seem to cut it in all situations.  Enter the pouch.  My first experience with one was when I purchased my black pebbled Clare Vivier years ago before she had her own store fronts in NYC and LA. Since then, I’ve added many more in various colors and fabrics.

The pouch falls somewhere between a coin purse and a clutch.  Perfect for riding in a larger tote to hold all you goodies, but mostly these babies pack a punch by themselves as the perfect accessory.

Perfectly Pink

hot lean 2

It seems so predictable – A blonde that loves hot pink and owns a chihuahua (que the Paris Hilton comparisons).  A stereotype, yes but definitely not one I would fall into.  Try as I might, I do love pink (in fact it’s my favorite color).  Pepper, my chihuahua, who went to live with my sister due to my overseas residence is, of course, my furry baby.

Needless to say, I went bananas over the vibrant pink of this top.  The color just makes you happy and I firmly believe can turn a bad day into a good one.  Paired with a crisp, white pair of jeans, I’m loving pink for the Summer.

flare G

Last week I was in a meeting obsessing over the fabulous wide-leg jeans my appointment was wearing.  When I commented how much I loved them, she explained they were vintage and one of her most coveted pairs because of the wash and soft, broken in denim.

Wide-leg or flared denim comes in many variations and colors.  Much like their skinny siblings, they are really a personal choice when it comes to wash and cut.  I love the chic clean lines of a dark flare.  They are super flattering and always give the illusion I’ve gained at least 5 inches in height – and illusion I’ll take any day!

My tips for choosing the perfect flare:

* Look at the width of the bell-the shorter you are, the less wide you should go.  An overly large flare can overwhelm a petite frame.

* A darker wash is the most versatile as well as flattering.

* Take advantage of the flared hem by hemming the denim to a taller wedge or pair of heels to created height.

It’s pretty safe to say, my husband will never enjoy shopping (a male gene I am working to override).  However, he’s come a long way when it comes to trying new styles and things a bit outside of the box.

Taking a page from his closet, I decided to indulge the male fashion psyche with boyfriend shorts, a crew neck/collared shirt combo and an over-sized watch. Pops of leopard, red lips and sky high heels ensured my ensemble still had the necessary feminine touches.
