When planning our 5 year anniversary, my husband and I unanimously agreed it was back to Anguilla we go. We discovered this secluded island in 2012 on our honeymoon and visited again in 2015. The people, food and of course the surroundings make this spot super relaxing and definitely an escape from NYC.
I thought I’d share a few pics to start as I’ll be doing a part 2 on the food and where go on the island. We are already planning our next trip!

No I’m not black and blue after the frenzy of Black Friday sales; however it got me thinking about a fashion myth that has always circulated: Wearing black and blue together is one of the ultimate faux pas. I have to disagree on every level. I love the combo, especially with the right accessories. Because the two colors are in similar families, the combination creates a neutral palette with a bit of contrast.

There are days made for staying in, snuggling up and excepting that the outside elements will most certaintly win. Today was that kind of day, but unfortunately (having never experienced New York’s version of cold) I naively decided to give the city my best NC cold weather bundle and head to Soho. Needles to say, I ducked into every little shop that offered warmth from the monsoon like winds. The chili infused dark hot chocolate from Vosges was literally my salvation today. Next weekend…..Canada Goose vs. Moncler!
Sweater: Helmut Lang, Denim: J Brand (also here), Boots: Hunter + Rag & Bone (also love this color), Scarf: Burberry (similar here), Hat: Topshop-old (similar here & here & obsessed with this one), Sunnies: Westward Leaning.
Based on my unusual affinity for plaid, anyone would think my heritage lies in Scotland or Ireland (my clan actually originated in France). Of course Burberry has always been a favorite for obvious reasons, but I really do not discriminate when I find a print I love. To keep my fancy pants out of the conservative column, I decided to mix in another favorite…leopard. Let the print party begin!

One of my key wardrobe pieces is a crisp, black blazer and walking through New York City on a weekday morning, it seems to be the unofficial uniform. Even though my favorite blazer can be paired with anything, I love a clean, monochromatic look with different textures to add dimension. Coated leggings, nubby tee and patent pumps, transformed an otherwise plain outfit into something fabulous!
