“Fashion knows not of comfort”– I’ll admit, I do see real life versions of this walking around the city and have even had this saying running through my head after a long night out in a particularly killer pair of heels.  I’ve since learned, you don’t always need to suffer for the sake of fashion.

I am always on the hunt for fabulous pieces that not only look amazing on, but have a level of comfort.  I can remember my college days when I wore dresses that sometimes felt like removing a bandage at the end of a night out, even though they looked amazing.  I eventually realized that in most cases you can have both.  This DVF dress is perfection, easily ticking all the boxes.  Comfort and style actually get along.  The color is one of my favorites and the simplicity of the dress makes it super comfortable and easy to accessorize.  Perfect Summer staple!

Sunshine at last!….and the perfect excuse to slowly incorporate spring trends into my wardrobe.  I love that nautical is already popping up everywhere, considering I love stripes and anything inspired by the coast.

To keep the trend from looking to literal, I decided to pair a darker blazer and similar hued rolled jeans to keep a neutral look.  The finishing touch, a pop of hot pink….naturally!

Southern hospitality

Visit any Southern’s home you are likely to find sweet tea, a “Welcome y’all” sign and seersucker, in various colors.  Shorts, dresses and men’s suits with matching bow ties all roam freely in the South in this fabric and I have to smile every time I’m home.

Southern summers are always spent beach-side, perched on a crisp white Adirondack chair, wide brim sun hat, taking in the salty air.  Seersucker always seems to evoke these memories for me.

Beachcomber

As a change of pace, I decided to head over to Balmoral Beach for my usual morning latte.  The warm sun and cool breeze were a welcome change and inspired my nautical stripes and hot pink.  Perfect way to relax…

Cajun shrimp

This weekend was unusually warmer for an Aussie winter, which of course prompted me to get out and about in the brightest colors possible.  This shirt dress is so easy and carefree and works well with almost any accessories.  It’s a beautiful blank canvas with endless possibilities.  It transitioned perfectly into my evening date at the new Jamie Oliver gem … Jamie’s Italian.

“I travel light. I think the most important thing is to be in a good mood and enjoy life, wherever you are” – Diane Von Fursterberg

Diane Von Fursterberg is one of my absolute favorite designers.  Her ability to create fresh innovative colors and patterns season after season make the fashion world a brighter place.  I fell in love with this stunning turquoise DVF top on a recent visit to NYC and quickly recognized its mirror in nature while walking along the beach in Anguilla on my honeymoon.  Something about it’s color and they way it effortlessly falls, makes me feel instantly relaxed and happy.
