It’s that time of year again (8 weeks to go) and for all the early birds, gift ideas probably started swirling in your heads in August. I have always loved thinking about and giving gifts. The beautiful wrapping and the adoration of a well thought out token are always my favorite part of the process. I’ve decided to compile a collection of ideas to suit both sexes that are either my go to trinkets or items on my gift giving list this year. Happy gifting!
Golden lip mug, Tory Burch book, Wishbone ring stand, Theodora & Callum scarf (ON SALE!), Business card holder, Golden flatware, Jo Malone candle, Mini notebook, Pearl stud statement earrings, fringe gloves.
Watch case, Beer making kit, Nixon watch, Burberry cashmere scarf, Moscow mule mug, Ray-ban sunnies, Where chefs eat book, 36 hours book, soap on a rope.
I find a sneaky pre-Winter sale can sometimes be overwhelming. It seems like it take hours to scroll through all the options and by the time my shortlist is complete, it’s quite frankly become long. I find that using a pop up sale to snatch basics that will have staying power and get you though the season ahead, are always a good way to go. Here are my top picks for neutral gems, perfect for any closet- after perusing Shopbop’s friend & family selection (25% off sitewide with code: FAMILY25)
Watch: Nixon, Gloves: Carolina Amato, Denim: Frame, Sweater: Mason by Michelle Mason, Sunnies: 3.1 Phillip Lim, Hat: Hat Attack, Booties: Belle by Sigerson Morrison, Clutch: Clare Vivier.
A trench is one of those pieces that everyone should own and no one does them better than Burberry. I’m a bit partial as the brand is one of my favorites in all departments (their cashmere scarves are saviors in Wintertime). I went back and forth between the classic trench tan vs. the black and ultimately chose the black for a dressier feel.
Regardless of the brand, a well tailored trench is worth every penny. It’s an essential piece, really year round, but was perfect for the windy, cool weekend we just had in NYC.
Trench: Burberry (love this one too), Jeans: Topshop (similar here), Sweater: Michael Kors (similar here & here), Shoes: Aquazzura (love this color too), Clutch: Clare Vivier, Sunnies: Ray-Ban, Watch: Nixon-20% off sitewide-FALL20 (rose gold version).
One of my favorite weekend brunch spots is West Village. The streets are so lovely and quaint and it’s the closest to a Sydney style breakfast we’ve found thus far. Perfectly poached eggs and lattes at Cafe Minerva were followed by couples retail therapy at Rag & Bone. (Love it when the hubby is on-board for this!).
I also quickly found that my denim on denim mindset was shared by others. Within the space of 10 minutes, I literally spotted 3 different women sporting this Marc by Marc Jacobs chambray dress – this might have had something to do with the fact that I was on the same block as the store. I’m always up for any version of a denim remix, especially when I found out Frank & Eileen did chambray button downs. For an off duty casual shirt, these guys are the best hands down.
Top: Frank & Eileen (also love this & this one), Denim: Topshop (similar here & here-also love this ripped version), Sunnies: Icing (also love these), Shoes: Christian Louboutin (similar here & here), Watch: Nixon (love this rosegold one), Necklaces: Jennifer Zeuner & Sydney Evan, Nails: Essie in Fiji.
Wine is one of those colors that can act as a neutral or even be a pop of color during Winter. This was the reasoning behind my color choice for these leather pants. Leather is an investment, which usually has me leaning towards the always popular black option, but the fig has been on surprisingly high rotation all season.
Leather pants: Current Elliott (coated version here & and this version are amazing. Similar version here), Chambray top: Blank NYC (similar here & here), Shoes: Joie (similar here), Sunnies: Wayne Cooper (similar here), Watch: Nixon (similar here), Clutch: Clare Vivier.
This weekend was so lovely and relaxing, and also happened to be the start of my 2 week long birthday celebration. (One day is never enough). Drinks with friends, gorgeous and thoughtful gifts and an amazing dinner at Daniel (where I was fortunate enough to meet the culinary genius himself!). By the time Sunday rolled around, I was ready to play mix up with some of my favorite prints and enjoy a lazy stroll through the West Village.
Scarf: Theodora & Callum (also here), Jeans: J Brand (also love these), Tee: Nordstrom (similar here & here), Shoes: Mulberry (similar here & here), Sunnies: Ray-Ban, Clutch: ELA (also love this one), Watch: Nixon.
In a effort to combat the onset of darker evenings and frigid mornings, I decided my traditional winter colors needed a wake up call. I love a good plaid scarf and typically tend to mix it with one of the colors that makes up the print, however; my lime sweater was and unexpected but perfect partner, adding a much needed burst of color.
Scarf: Madewell (also love this & this one), Jeans: AG (also here & here in moto version), Shoes: Zara (similar here & here), Clutch: Clare Vivier (also love this one), Sunnies: Wayne Cooper (similar here), Watch: Nixon (love this one), Bracelet: Giles & Brother (similar here).
