Rugged up

The New Year is officially in full swing in our house.  We have a new furry house guest, a furniture refresh and a new 2015 travel schedule.  My birthday also happens to be looming at the end of the week-which I promptly began celebrating early when my new python goodie turned up in the mail. 🙂  During the gloomy and cold weekend, I decided to throw on my chunkiest knit and take my new accessory out for a bit of decorating inspiration along with some light wardrobe shopping for my new furry baby.

The little things…

It seems like the first signs of the holiday season emerge earlier and earlier each year.  I have to admit, I was slightly offended last year when I saw the first pop up ornament store in early September.  This season, my gift gathering will start early as usual but honestly, I compile my lists throughout the year.

Gift giving is something I have always enjoyed.  I love the idea that a small, thoughtful token can remind someone that you are thinking of them.  The above items are some of my personal favorites anytime of the year and all under $100!

(Careful with the Levain cookies….they are seriously addictive} 🙂

Bonus ~ the scarf, sleep pants, watch & necklace are all 25% off on Shopbop until Thursday night! {Use code: INTHEFAMILY25}

From left to right:  Candle: Diptyque, Macaron trinket box: Urban Outfitters, Letter, Oatmeal chocolate chip cookie: Levain bakery NYC, Polish: Essie in Berry Hard, Necklace: Adia Kibur, Scarf: Paula Bianco,  Watch: La Mer Collection, Sleep pants: Eberjey.

Even though I love lazy, warm summer days and spontaneous jaunts to the coast for sun and relaxation, winter fashion is some of my favorite.  I love all the textured detailing, luxurious cashmere and over-sized knits, and just the overall concept of wrapping up in something fabulous to keep warm.  My obsession for scarves carries through to the cooler months and an over-sized, chunky knit is my must have.

Hosiery is also an accessory that I consider a staple.  There are so many options out there that you really can’t go wrong expressing your own sense of style through leg wear.  For more of an investment, Worlford is the way to go.  The quality is amazing and the prints and patterns are to die for.  When it comes to everyday and fun colors, I love Hue, Falke and DKNY.
