When planning our 5 year anniversary, my husband and I unanimously agreed it was back to Anguilla we go. We discovered this secluded island in 2012 on our honeymoon and visited again in 2015.  The people, food and of course the surroundings make this spot super relaxing and definitely an escape from NYC.

I thought I’d share a few pics to start as I’ll be doing a part 2 on the food and where go on the island.  We are already planning our next trip!

Opposites

oppo half half B  I will always gravitate towards a ripped pair of jeans over a skirt, or a masculine cross-body in leu of a girly clutch complete with bow accent (not that there’s anything wrong with a super feminine look). I also love mixing opposing styles and colors to give and otherwise basic look some edge.

My husband always knows when a tee or one of his watches has gone missing, I’m probably the culprit. 🙂  For the Summer, my darker wash denim jacket is traded for it’s lighter version and ripped denim goes from jeans to shorts becoming an overall lighter look.  Chunky black accessories and a masculine watch will definitely keep me from floating away.

The Chunk Factor

leaf chunky B

A chunky heel is always a must in my book and especially now that they are having their moment in the sun.  What’s not to love: the statement the heel makes, the comfort factor and of course the new heights shorter girls can reach.  I purchased these Marni heels at a sample sale in Sydney a couple of years ago.  They are some of my favorites and always on point in the style department. Marni does some great chunky foot candy, but I’ve also come across other that I’m crushing on.

Currently loving the chunkiness of:

1. Love the black and cognac combo in these.

2. Metallics are always perfection (and on sale!)

3. Gladiator version of the chunky.

4. Perfect white for Summer.

5. Indulge the mule trend with Tibi’s version.

6. DKNY nude on nude

7. A.P.C. full platform sandal.

Headbands are back

When Lupita Nyong’o hit the Oscar red carpet, it was hard not to be memorized by her powder blue gown, but soon a frenzy started surrounding the thin gold band around her head.  “Headbands are back” proclaimed social media and fashion aficionados.

Personally, I’ve never been a huge fan of them.  There are styles that I think are beautiful, but I’ve never been 100% sure of how to wear this accessory.  Several months ago I was in the Gemma Redux showroom and and spotted a headband that was to fabulous to pass up.  The combination of geometric rose gold secured with a leather tie felt more like  a golden crown.  I was (and still am) obsessed!  The construction is perfection, lacking the dreaded headband headache and full of luxe style.

Street Style

street full cross

This past weekend was the first time since landing in NYC that we’ve had absolutely nothing planned.  It was fantastic!  Following our carb-fest at Grimaldi’s Friday afternoon (so yummy!), Saturday was a relaxing stroll through the city.  Although it was a beautiful day, I’m learning quickly that Summer in NYC can be extremely hot and very humid.  My usual go to blazer was to warm, so I have quickly adopted the sleeveless version, which still creates a polished but cool look.
