My first girls trip to Vegas was definitely memorable. (Some things will remain unmentioned of course 🙂 )  The food, shows and shopping were all in keeping with the city’s vibe: over the top and bundles of fun.

I had just graduated college, and got my first taste of the designer mecca housed in Caesar’s Palace.  I knew on my small budget, I wouldn’t be able to afford anything, but I couldn’t help just “looking” at the hot pink plaid that caught my eye in Dolce and Gabbana.  I love pink and have an unusual fondness for plaid (perpetuated by my grandmother’s clothing choices for me as a child).  The fashion god’s were definitely in my corner that day because to my shock, it was on sale-and bonus I could afford it.  Ever since that day back in 2005, my lucky hat has been just that, and always reminds me of that unforgettable weekend.

The first day of Spring is always an exciting time for me regardless of which hemisphere I’m in.  Bright colors, yummy pastels and feminine inspiration literally bloom everywhere.

I was awakened this morning by a group of Rozella’s, starving for their usual mix of bird seeds.  I haven’t seen them in awhile and was pleasantly surprised that they seemed to know it was Spring in the Northern Hemisphere even though they reside in Australia.  I drew from these little “inspirations on wings” with a bright birdie scarf and hot pink cashmere. Bring on the color!

If I had to pick one type of clothing to take to a deserted island, hands down it would be a pair (or 5) of jeans.  Denim, by far, outweighs all other items in my closet and I have to admit, I am slightly addicted.  I love perusing through the new washes each season and always fall in love with more that I should.

With lighter denim on offer from every designer, making a decision was difficult.  I wanted something different from the standard light wash, and successfully discovered it in J Brand’s Afterlife.  The color has that “something special” factor combined with the brand’s amazing fit.  Definitely a heavenly pair of jeans!

Statement jewellery is a lot like art; a very personal choice that can make a different impact on multiple admirers.  I have always loved bright baubles and pieces that own the room, but hands down, Gemma Redux embodies everything I love in an amazing piece of jewellery.

My husband surprised me with this necklace, (I had been obsessing over for months), and in keeping with the rest of my Gemma Redux pieces, it is my own personal work of art!

After a whirlwind 3 days in NYC, followed by a quick jaunt through DC, I have come home inspired, energized and most certainty hit my credit card limit (with good justification).  Even though a cold decided to accompany me on this trip, I decided to ignore it’s presence and have a ball!

My fist stop was Grand Central.  I absolutely love the energy of people bustling through this beautiful building, rushing off to start their day.  With unmistakable architecture and an endless sea of people, I was inspired by one of my favorite views, which surprisingly is very calm amongst the frenzy.  The balcony view is the perfect way to leave the madness for a minute and truly appreciate where you are.  With my favorite jeans and basic black, I let my surroundings shine.
