Hoot

My slightly odd obsession with owl’s manifests itself in many ways….owl teapot, owl measuring cups…the list continues.  So when I came across this rather unique tank, I had to have it.  I mean, who could pass up a street chic, nocturnal bird with a fabulous hat.

I’m not usually a graphic tee kind of gal; however, I do have a small collection of various finds that I had to add to my wardrobe.  I love how a simple article of clothing has the ability to express your personality.

Little Miss Sunshine

I have never been a fan of dreary days, dragged down by the somber darkness of low hanging clouds and sporadic showers that always seem to hit right as you need to go somewhere.  The view from our apartment is consumed by greyness.  In an attempt to not let my mood match the weather outside, I promptly decided to put on one of my happiest and brightest sweater dresses …of course.  It’s amazing how color really does affect my mood (Insert smile here) 🙂

Favorites

I love adding new pieces to my wardrobe, dabbling in current trends and finding amazing investment staples….but, I still have my favorite fall backs that always prove to be the true workhorses of my closet.  Whether it’s a favorite pair of perfectly worn in jeans or a leopard accessory that infuses chic, but timeless detail, every girl has their versions of a “favorites” section in their closet.

My top staples are:

~Well tailored blazer in black or navy

~A pair of comfortable, well worn jeans in a neutral wash

~V-neck or crew white tee

~A neutral pump

~Classic pair of sunnnies

~Chunky statement jewellery

~Neutral clutch

Black Friday

As crazy as it can get, one of the many holiday traditions I miss while being overseas, is the madness that is Black Friday.  It’s one of those days seemingly normal people go absolutely bonkers, which can be amusing and terrifying all at the same time.  Every shred of turkey, the 5 extra buckeyes and the larger than intended serving of candied yams vanish the day after Thanksgiving as a result of the marathon shopping.

I’ve had my fair share of early morning lines, sweater snatches and parking showdowns.  I think having lived overseas for the past few years, the bad memories have dulled and I miss the hunt for that amazing piece that’s beyond discounted.  This year, I have accepted that the closest I will get is online.  Happy shopping!!!

Mini me

With the pencil skirt as a timeless must have this season, I felt the need to revisit it’s shorter cousin, the mini.  A good mini is a staple in any wardrobe, and a vibrantly colored one is just a bonus!  I love their versatility and feminine vibe.  I fell in love with the cobalt blue of this piece and saw it easily fitting into my closet for any season.
