Year of the Snake

Year of snake side

Chinatown is one of my favorite areas to shop, eat and observe.  With the Chinese New Year upon us, the city has been bursting with activity and celebrations, kicking off the Year of the Snake.  With serpent inspiration everywhere, I followed suit with my own interpretation on the festivities.

Although I relish indulging in current trends, my closet has a good amount of basics.  The perfect white tee and neutral tanks are necessary pieces.

Adding texture to an otherwise simple top or pant can take a staple piece to another level, while still remaining neutral.  I loved the contrast between two materials which gave an unexpected twist on a simple black tank.

Red

I have to admit, I am one of those people who loves Valentine’s Day.  Whether single and going out with my girlfriends, or attached and planning a romance filled evening, I love that it’s a celebration of the people that bring happiness to your life.

This year, the hubs and I are going low key on the day and having a relaxing evening in.  My cozy, red cashmere is perfect for the occasion. However; as all partnerships are a compromise, the following evening I decided to book one of my other half’s favorites…Momofuku.  We both fell in love with NYC location and were ecstatic when the Sydney location opened.  David Chang never dissapoints!

Citrus

A fabulous scarf is a priceless accessory.  It can be wrapped, tied and manipulated into many different versions and literally has the power to transform an outfit, whether a bold print or a vibrant color, I consider them an expression of personality and even mood.

My go to brand for scarves has always been Theodora & Callum, so I was elated when they asked Wishbone to be their new brand ambassador!  Their accessories are perfection, with each scarf drawing on inspiration from global travels to some of the most fabulous places in the world. Even more perfect, the tie all (my personal favorite) can be worn as a dress, scarf, sarong….the options are endless.

Lace

I am officially obsessed with the lace trend.  The girly quality that it brings, but also the subtle nod towards elegance.  I have to admit, I’m not brave enough to attempt lace head to toe, so I opted for detailing instead.  The playfulness of a short, juxtaposed against delicate lace was the perfect pick.
